7 Principles of Health - Tyler Tolman

When I find the time to read it is usually about how to look after your health, mind, body, and soul. Recently I read a blog by Tyler Tolman about the 7 Principles of Health that will transform your health, which really resonated with me and just made sense. Tyler is a qualified iridologist, nutritionist and fasting expert, providing expert advice in natural health, whole foods and the fundamentals required for a balanced and fulfilled life.

Now that the school holidays and the silly season is over, let’s start the year with clear goals and a good mindset.

We hope these 7 Principles will help give you that boost you need.

AIR
Breathing deeply from your diaphragm has many benefits for your health. It relieves stress and tension in your body, it helps oxygenate our body and organs which in turn helps us heal better and helps detoxify the body.
Plants detoxify the air around us, eliminating a bunch of chemicals. So, consider buying some plants for your home. Maybe consider ‘A mother in law tongue’ plant which is great for giving off oxygen at night, so a great one to have in your bedroom.

WATER
Hydrate, Hydrate, Hydrate. Drink water as soon as you wake up to flush out toxins and hydrate your digestive system. Eat lots of high water content foods such as celery, zucchini, spinach, strawberries, and watermelon. If you have dry lips, you are probably dehydrated so have a glass of water before reaching for your lip gloss.

SUNSHINE
Get at least 30 mins of sunshine each day. This can increase the brain’s release of a hormone called serotonin. Serotonin is sometimes referred to as the happy chemical. It helps regulate mood, sleep, and digestion. It also helps the skin create Vitamin D which plays a big role in bone health.

EXERCISE
Move your body. Even if it is just a 30 minute walk each day. Find an activity that you enjoy, whether it be going to the gym, yoga, a team sport or walking with a friend. Exercise can help lift our mood, lower the risk of some diseases such as high blood pressure and it boosts our energy levels.

WHOLE FOODS
Eat foods that are straight from the earth, that haven’t been processed or put in a packet. Increase your intake of fresh fruit, vegetables, and salads.

RELATIONSHIPS
Focus on building positive relationships. If you follow the first 5 principles, you should feel positive and healthy which will help form a good mindset and positive relationships in your life.

PASSION
What are you passionate about? Share that passion with others. Hang out with people who share similar passions as yourself.

These are such simple principles but sometimes it is good to focus on the simple stuff rather than complicate things. In addition to Tyler’s 7 Principles of Health, we believe there are two more principles that can be added to really give your health a boost. Sleep and Fewer Toxins in your life.

SLEEP
Make sure you get enough sleep. Try switching off your phone and do some meditation or stretching before bed.

FEWER TOXINS
Start switching your toxic products to natural ones. Read the back of labels and do your research about ingredients in products. Just because a product has a fancy label on the front with claims that it is good for you doesn’t necessarily mean it is. Switch one product at a time and before you know it you will have fewer chemicals in your home and life.

Take one step at a time when trying to transform your health so you don’t feel overwhelmed. The more you continue to make changes the better you will feel and the more likely these changes will be sustainable.
